Overview
Bookmarked is a reading tracker for private shelves, book release alerts, author and series follows, catalog requests, and optional library imports. We collect the information needed to provide those features and do not sell personal information or use advertising tracking in the current version.
Information We Collect
- Account information, including your email address and user ID.
- Optional profile information, such as your display name and reading goal.
- Reading data you create in the app, including shelf status, started dates, finished dates, followed books, followed authors, followed series, and alert preferences.
- Catalog request data, including requested titles, authors, series, notes, and related status information.
- Optional library import data from CSV files you choose to upload, such as title, author, shelf status, and read dates.
- Push notification registration data, including a push subscription ID, device platform, and timezone.
- Search queries for zero-result catalog searches so missing catalog items can be understood and improved.
- Technical data produced by normal API and hosting operations, such as request logs, error details, and timestamps.
How We Use Information
- Authenticate your account and keep your session active.
- Sync your private shelf, alerts, subscriptions, and profile.
- Send release alerts and related push notifications when enabled.
- Process library imports and catalog requests.
- Maintain security, debug issues, and keep the service reliable.
- Improve the catalog and request flow.
Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, Bookmarked registers your device with OneSignal and stores the push subscription ID needed to deliver release alerts. You can disable notifications in iOS settings, and you can pause or remove alerts inside the app.
Library Imports
You may choose to upload a Goodreads, StoryGraph, or compatible CSV export. Bookmarked uses the file to match catalog books and update your shelf. We retain the resulting shelf records and unmatched request metadata needed to provide the import flow.
Third-Party Services
Bookmarked uses service providers to run the app:
- PlanetScale Postgres for account identity and application data.
- OCI or another hosting provider for the API and server logs.
- OneSignal for push notification delivery.
- Google Books and Hardcover for catalog metadata when used by server-side ingestion.
- Apple TestFlight and App Store services for beta testing and distribution.
Data Retention And Deletion
Bookmarked keeps account and app data while your account is active. You can delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your authentication identity and local app data associated with your account. Some operational logs or backups may remain for a limited period where needed for security, debugging, or legal compliance.
Security
We use standard transport security for production traffic and rely on established providers for authentication, database hosting, and notification delivery. No method of transmission or storage is perfect, but we work to keep the data collected by Bookmarked limited to what the product needs.
Children's Privacy
Bookmarked is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as Bookmarked changes. The latest version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
